Barcelona thrashed Osasuna 7-1 in midweek to keep the heat on Real Madrid, though the latter’s game in hand ensures they still have the edge heading into the final few rounds of the season. Barça can afford no slips if they’re to stand any chance of a dramatic late overtake at the top of the table, and they’ll be gunning for victory over crosstown rivals Espanyol on Saturday.

Needless to say, Barça head into the contest as big favourites; however, they should be wary of complacency against Quique Sánchez Flores’ Espanyol. They’ve enjoyed a solid-if-unspectacular second half of the season, and find themselves comfortably in ninth place with four games still to play. They’re more than capable of causing an upset, and perhaps playing a decisive role in the La Liga title race.

Espanyol will certainly be without Óscar Duarte, who is injured; Aarón Martín and Álvaro Vázquez both face late fitness tests. Barcelona will have to do without long-term absentees Aleix Vidal and Rafinha, while Jérémy Mathieu is an early doubt for Luis Enrique. They should otherwise have a full-strength team available.
