Real Madrid are leading La Liga and starting to cruise, winning five straight matches in all competitions and starting to threaten to pull away from the pack in Spain. Their lead over Barcelona is only a narrow one right now, but with a match against Leganes coming, they have a chance to pad that lead at a crucial time.

And make no mistake, even if Leganes are teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, this is an incredibly important match for Real Madrid. Their next match after this is a Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid, and then they’ve got a Champions League quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich, quickly followed by another El Clasico bout against Barcelona. There’s no room for error for Los Merengues right now, and they absolutely cannot afford to see their attention waver and slip up in this match.

Real Madrid will only be missing Raphael Varane, who is nursing a thigh injury, while Leganes are without the suspended Erik Moran, with Serantes and Rober Ibanez out injured as well. It’s a tough trio of absences for Leganes to deal with in a match like this, and it could prove to be too much for them to overcome Real Madrid.
