Dortmund head into the weekend fourth in the table, a point adrift of third-placed Hoffenheim and five below Leipzig. Though it’s now surely too late for them to catch Bayern, Thomas Tuchel will still be eyeing second place. There’s also simple pride at stake in a fixture between the two teams that have dominated German football over the last few years.
For this match, Bayern Munich are without Douglas Costa, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer, who are all currently out injured. However, they should otherwise have a full-strength team available. Borussia Dortmund’s injury list is rather longer: Mario Götze, Erik Durm, André Schürrle, and Sebastian Rode are all certain absentees; Marcel Schmelzer, Marc Bartra, Łukasz Piszczek, Julian Weigl, Shinji Kagawa, and Marco Reus all face late fitness tests.
