Nacho scores free kick while no one is paying attention, ref allows it in Real Madrid vs. Sevilla

Hey, the ball was stopped.

You probably won’t see another free kick goal like this anytime soon.

Thanks to some quick thinking by Nacho Fernández, Real Madrid took a 1-0 lead on Sevilla in their La Liga match on Sunday.

Usually, after a player gets fouled and a referee gives a free kick, there’s a lot of standing around and getting ready. But if the referee has said the ball can be played, there’s no reason they can’t play the ball, so Nacho took a shot while no one was paying attention.

And there was no reason for Nacho not to try this. If the referee disallowed it, Real Madrid wouldn’t have lost the free kick. They just would have been made to retake it. It’s an awesome heads-up play.
