Real Madrid head into their encounter away at Celta de Vigo on Wednesday knowing they only need a draw to leapfrog Barcelona and move to the top of the La Liga table with a game to spare. As it stands, the two sides are level on points, though tiebreakers keep Barça ahead. But with Real having this game-in-hand, they still very much hold the initiative.

Zinedine Zidane’s side will certainly feel confident of beating a Celta Vigo who have faded terribly over the second half of the season. They’ve failed to win any of their last eight matches in all competitions and head into this match on the back of five straight league defeats. Anything other than a defeat would come as a pleasant surprise for the home fans.

Celta Vigo will certainly be without striker Giuseppe Rossi, who suffered a fourth career ACL injury earlier in the year. They should otherwise have a full-strength team available. Real Madrid will certainly be without Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal; James Rodríguez is also set to miss out, with Zidane suggesting it is because of injury rather than an impending move away from the Santiago Bernabéu.
