Real Madrid vs. Atlético Madrid live stream: How to watch Champions League online

Can Atlético finally upend Real Madrid in the Champions League?

It’s been a long road in the Champions League this season, but if recent history is any indication, we’re still going to be in for a treat when Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid square off in the semifinal round starting on Tuesday. That recent history is decidedly against Atlético, though, and they’ll be eager to see what they can do to rectify that history in this tie.

Twice in the last three seasons, Atlético Madrid have made the Champions League final, only to fall at the final measure against their crosstown rivals Real Madrid. This time, though, Atléti have the benefit of playing a two-legged tie that will finish in the Calderon, an advantage they will look to take hold of with a strong opening-leg performance at the Bernabeu.

But Atlético are coming into this match with a depleted defense, with injuries leaving Juanfran, Sime Vrsaljko, and Jose Gimenez missing from their back line, and Augusto Fernandez out of their midfield rotation. Real are without a major duo in Pepe and Gareth Bale, but they have the depth to compensate for those losses — Atlético will be much more sternly tested by theirs.
