The FIFA Under-20 World Cup is in full swing, and the United States U-20 national team is finally ready to take the pitch in South Korea with dreams of winning the biggest youth soccer title in the world. The U.S. squad includes a few faces who will be very familiar to those who follow the youth ranks, including Cameron Carter-Vickers, Danny Acosta, Luca de la Torre, and Gedion Zelalem. Jonathan Klinsmann is on the squad as well — the son of former senior USMNT boss Jurgen Klinsmann is serving as one of the options in goal for U-20’s boss Tab Ramos.
But it’s some of the newer faces who could make the biggest impact on the side. Jeremy Ebobisse, Brooks Lennon, Derrick Jones, and Tommy Redding ooze talent and potential, and they’ve done a lot of work to help the team through their triumphant CONCACAF Championship run that got them here. It’s not just the top of the roster that will get the youth team the wins they need — it’s the full squad, and this team looks deeper than a United States U-20 squad has in a long time.
