The Copa del Rey Final is upon us, and thrilled as Alavés were to make it past Celta Vigo and get to the championship match of Spain’s top cup competition, the prospect of facing Barcelona in that title has to be daunting. But this is one match for the title and all the accolades that go with it, so teams like Alavés aren’t going to be backing down, no matter what.

Alavés are a big underdog with dreams of an upset, but Barcelona won’t want to walk away from this season without some silverware.

Of course, Alavés aren’t a bad team by any means. They finished ninth in La Liga this season, and actually own a 2-1 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou early in the season, though they suffered a 6-0 loss at home later on. They do have one advantage, though, coming into the match almost completely healthy, while Barcelona will be without Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto after both players were sent off in the second leg of Barcelona’s semifinal tie against Atletico Madrid.
Of course, Barcelona still have a lot of talent available to them, and this Copa del Rey Final is their match to lose. They’ll want to come out of this season with at least some silverware after being trounced from the Champions League early and failing to beat Real Madrid to La Liga crown, and that means they’re going to be coming out hungry in this match with no care in the world for Alavés’ underdog upset dreams.
