USA vs. Saudi Arabia, 2017 U-20 World Cup: Game time, TV channel, and live stream

Josh Sargent and the USMNT youths are hoping to close out the group stage with a bang.

The United States have a chance to win their group at the FIFA U-20 World Cup on Sunday, but to do so they have to win their last match in the group. That match will be against Saudi Arabia in Daejon, South Korea, and the stakes will be higher than they’ve ever been for this young American team.

Of course, a loss wouldn’t doom the United States — a draw would almost definitely see them through to the knockout rounds, and they could still potentially finish second in the group with a loss depending on the result of the Ecuador-Senegal match to round out the group. Even if they finish third, the four points the USMNT have won so far could see them through as one of the best-performing third place teams, so the odds are good that they’ll advance regardless.

But to advance by winning this match and the group, and with the extra confidence and momentum that would give them, would be huge for the U.S. youths. Winning the group would see them paired against the second place side in group E — likely New Zealand as things stand — while finishing second would see them paired against Mexico in the first knockout round. That wouldn’t be the worst result as the USMNT U-20’s beat Mexico during the CONCACAF Championship run that got them here, but taking an easier road is never a bad thing.

The star of the show so far for the USMNT youths has been Josh Sargent, a 17 year old striker who has been playing brilliantly, scoring three of the Americans’ four goals in the tournament so far despite competing against players a full age group ahead of him in both physical and technical development. That’s an impressive achievement, and fans of the American youth system should keep a very, very close eye on him during the next few years, because he looks like a very intriguing talent indeed.

To watch this match online in the United States, you can stream it on the Fox Soccer 2GO subscription service, or depending on your internet provider, you can watch for free on Fox Sports Go or on Telemundo Deportes En Vivo.
