USA vs. Mexico live stream: How to watch USMNT’s World Cup qualifier online

Watch the Americans fight to get their first ever World Cup qualifying win at Estadio Azteca.

Mexico is cruising in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying and could be the first team to seal a place in the 2018 World Cup. The United States is behind in their quest to punch their ticket to Russia, but they’ll be right back on track if they avoid defeat in Mexico City on Sunday.

Back in November, El Tri contributed to the downfall of Jürgen Klinsmann by beating the USMNT in Columbus. The Americans are seeking revenge for that, and a win would be their first ever victory in a World Cup qualifier away to Mexico. Their best results at Estadio Azteca are a pair of 0-0 draws.

Both Mexico and the USMNT won their first qualifiers of this international break, putting them in first and third place in the Hex, respectively. The Americans are trying to hold off Panama and Honduras for an automatic spot in the World Cup, while Mexico has plenty of breathing room and is virtually guaranteed of a top three finish — they’re just fighting for the No. 1 spot, for confidence and bragging rights.

The injury bug has bitten El Tri hard ahead of this match. Andres Guardado, Rafael Marquez and Miguel Layun are all unavailable for Mexico on Sunday night. The United States has its top players available, but is likely to make big adjustments to their team. Bruce Arena hinted on Sunday morning that he could make as many as seven changes to his lineup.
