While Portugal, the defending European Championship winners, have a decided talent advantage in this match, Russia do have one edge — they have an extra day’s rest, having played their tournament opener against New Zealand a day before Portugal and Mexico faced off. That little bit of freshness can be a big leg up in a short-run tournament like this, and seeing how Portugal approach the match to counter that advantage will be very interesting indeed.
