There’s one spot left in the Confederations Cup final, and it’s going to go to a team that eagerly wants to come at their opponents. Germany and Mexico have been two of the more entertaining sides in this tournament so far, but only one of them will make it past the semifinal round, putting massive amounts of importance and weight on this match.

Germany’s young side has overcome every challenge they’ve faced so far in the Confederations Cup, beating two eager sides in Australia and Cameroon, and playing finalists Chile to a 1-1 standstill. Die Mannschaft may be without their biggest stars, but this is still a hungry and talented squad eager to prove just how good they can be.

Mexico saw similar success, beating New Zealand and host side Russia after opening their tournament run with a 2-2 draw against Portugal in a wild game. This El Tri side is one of the most talented we’ve seen in a long time and are eager to win a tournament with bigger headlines to prove it. There’s been questions as to the efficacy of their coaching, but if they can overcome this German side to reach the final, they’ll definitely prove their quality.

It’s interesting that both of these teams drew the other two semifinal teams, showing just how tight the margins are in the quality and effectiveness of the top teams in this tournament. This match is going to dance on a razor’s edge, and it’s going to be fascinating to watch it unfold.
