Real Madrid are hoping to win their third Champions League title in four years, a remarkable accomplishment. If they succeed, they’ll also become the first team since 1990 to win the Champions League in two straight seasons, when AC Milan won their second straight title. That would be historic, and their team will do everything they can to achieve that goal.
Juventus are aiming for a historic treble, hoping to become the ninth team to win the treble in Europe. This is actually their second crack at it in three years, losing the Champions League final to Barcelona in 2015. Juventus also want to secure their first Champions League title since 1996 and their third in club history, despite this being their ninth appearance in the final. Their players desperately want to win it for Gianluigi Buffon, who, despite being one of the best goalkeepers in history, has never won the Champions League. It’s the last big honor in Buffon’s career that he has yet to earn, and it would be a fantastic achievement for him.
