The United States men’s national team is heading into two crucial World Cup qualifiers: at home against Trinidad and Tobago and away to Mexico. The team will have one match to warm up for those competitive fixtures: a friendly against Venezuela on Saturday.

Venezuela has struggled in CONMEBOL qualifying and has already been eliminated from contention for a place in the World Cup. However, the team has improved recently, grabbing four points from its last four matches after securing only two points in its first 10 games. Venezuela will be using this game as a chance to get a look at some new talent in preparation for the 2019 Copa America — manager Rafael Dudamel has called up seven uncapped players and 11 players who are 23 or younger.

A handful of inexperienced players are looking to work their way into Bruce Arena’s plans on Saturday as well. Matt Hedges, Dax McCarty, Paul Arriola, and Kellyn Acosta are all hoping to turn their superb club form into a bigger role with the USMNT.

Though no key players are missing for the United States, injuries prevented a handful of players from being called up. Jermaine Jones, Sebastian Lletget, and Timothy Chandler are the most notable absentees for the USMNT. Venezuela is without some of its most notable players for various reasons, ranging from injuries, to club commitments, to rest. Tomás Rincón, Josef Martinez, Luis Manuel Seijas, Roberto Rosales, and Oswaldo Vizcarrondo are the most notable players missing for La Vinotinto.
