Gianluigi Buffon’s dream of winning the Champions League took a bitter blow on Saturday when Real Madrid thrashed his Juventus side 4-1 in Cardiff. It was his second trip to the Champions League final in three years, and quite possibly the last attempt he’s going to have at winning the competition in his illustrious career.
Gianluigi Buffon isn’t done chasing the Champions League yet
The legendary Juventus goalkeeper is giving it one more try before retiring.

But that doesn’t mean that Buffon is done trying yet. Oh no.
I still have one more year on my contract, so that means I have one more chance of winning the Champions League.
Admittedly, it’ll be tough to do better than this year, because we could’ve done something truly incredible this season.
Unfortunately, we didn’t manage it.

Buffon wanting to just get straight back to work is pretty typical of his career, and no matter how you feel about Juventus, it’s hard to not want that one last bit of something special, that last piece of history, to find a place in his long and remarkable career.
