The bizarre Gianluigi Donnarumma contract saga has finally come to an end. AC Milan has announced that the club’s star goalkeeper has signed a new four-year deal with the club.
Gianluigi Donnarumma signs 4-year contract extension with AC Milan
He’ll make less than he would have elsewhere, but his deal has a release clause.

In mid-June, Milan announced that Donnarumma would not be re-signing with the club. Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola characterized the decision as “definitive,” while Milan’s executives admitted that they’d need to move on. This led to angry Milan fans throwing fake money at Donnarumma while he played with Italy Under-21s.
But Donnarumma has apparently had a change of heart. He’ll play for Milan this season, and perhaps for a few more after. However, his reportedly has a release clause starting next summer, the value of which will be determined by how Milan performs in Serie A next season.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano also has the salary details.
All the Milan fans who burned their jerseys won’t be too happy that they’ve done it for absolutely no reason. Their superstar goalkeeper is sticking around, and alongside Milan’s new summer signings, might lead them back to Champions League.
