Wayne Rooney goal for Everton looks a lot like his first Premier League goal

Rooney scored the first goal of his second Everton stint on Thursday, and it was a stunner.

Everton won their first preseason game of the summer on Thursday, beating Kenyan team Gor Mahia 2-1 in Tanzania. The highlight of the game was this goal by Wayne Rooney, his first for Everton since rejoining the club.

While the circumstances are a bit different, the goal might look familiar to Evertonians who remember Rooney’s first Premier League goal. Here’s what he did against Arsenal when he was 16 years old.

It’s going to be tough for Everton to replace Romelu Lukaku’s goal output this season, so Everton fans will be hoping there’s more where this came from for Rooney.
