So far, the United States men’s national team has struggled in the Gold Cup. The team drew against Panama, barely defeated Martinique, then only got the goal against Nicaragua that they needed to win the group at the last minute. But now reinforcements have arrived, and that makes the USMNT a big favorite in the quarterfinals against El Salvador.

After sitting out the group stage, stars Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, Darlington Nagbe and Tim Howard have joined up, along with young backup goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez. Those first five should all have some part to play on Wednesday night.

El Salvador finished third in their group, but performed well enough to suggest that they might be able to threaten the USMNT. They scored in all three of their games, including their opener against Mexico, and earned a 1-1 draw against Jamaica in their final match to earn a place in the knockout rounds. Nelson Bonilla is El Salvador’s leading scorer, having found the net against both Jamaica and Mexico.
