The third place match is not where either Mexico or Portugal wanted to end up in the Confederations Cup, but after both sides failed to win their semifinal matches this week, that’s exactly where they found themselves. Now it’s time for one of these teams to salvage something from this tournament, and that means leaving it all out on the pitch in one last match.
Mexico vs. Portugal live stream: Time, TV channel, and how to watch Confederations Cup 3rd place game online
Mexico and Portugal have a consolation prize to work towards in the Confederations Cup.

Portugal had good momentum coming into the tournament after winning the European Championships last summer, but got out-worked and held to a standstill by Chile in the semifinal, then whiffed on three straight penalties in the shootout to drop the match. Mexico got straight-up whipped by Germany, conceding twice in the first ten minutes before falling 4-1 in their semifinal. It wasn’t a pretty showing for either team, and they’d like to set the record straight in their last ride of the tournament.
Of course, Mexico and Portugal met in the group stage as well, and proved unable to break the deadlock in a 2-2 draw. Both teams won their other two group stage matches convincingly, leaving many to wonder just how this match will work out given how even things have looked between them.
