Saint Petersburg’s Krestovsky Stadium hosts the final of the Confederations Cup on Sunday, in which reigning World Cup winners Germany will go head-to-head with the current Copa América champions, Chile. These sides have certainly been the two most impressive teams in the tournament so far, and it should be a thoroughly excellent final.

The final of the Confederations Cup takes place in Saint Petersburg on Sunday.

Germany head in high on confidence: not only did they top their group — edging out Chile by two points — but they demolished Mexico 4-1 in the semifinal. Chile, by contrast, were in deadlock with Portugal in their semifinal, and had to go all the way to penalties before emerging victorious. It could well be that fatigue will take its toll on Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men.
These sides have already met in this tournament, though it’s a game that gives few clues as to which way the trophy will be heading. Alexis Sánchez gave Chile the lead in Kazan, only for Lars Stindl to peg them back shortly before halftime. The game ended all square. Germany head into this match as slight favourites, though Chile are sure to be stubborn opponents.
