Wednesday evening sees two of Europe’s top teams go head-to-head at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Paris Saint-Germain are looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, while Juventus will also be looking to find some form after kicking off their International Champions Cup campaign by losing narrowly to Barcelona.

It is wise to remember that we’re still at a very early stage of preparation for the new season, but these games are nevertheless useful ways for coaches to experiment and give game time to youngsters hoping to break into the first team. Unai Emery and Massimiliano Allegri are unlikely to be completely treating it as a walk in the park.

Paris Saint-Germain summer signing to watch: Dani Alves

This game will take on added significance for Dani Alves, who made the jump from Juventus to PSG earlier this summer. The veteran full-back was one of Juve’s top performers as they made an impressive run to the Champions League final last season, and will be hoping he can deliver similar performances for the Parisian giants in the upcoming campaign.

Juventus summer signing to watch: Douglas Costa

Alves’ compatriot Douglas Costa has recently completed a move to Juventus after a couple of seasons at Bayern Munich. The attacker never managed to establish himself as a regular at the Allianz Arena, though will be hoping for more regular first team football in a league where out-and-out wingers often thrive. He could well prove a very shrewd signing indeed.

Compared to other friendlies, is this worth my time?

It’s certainly one of the more interesting matches on the ICC billing. These are two massive teams, both looking to bounce back from slightly shaky starts. It could be worth a watch. 6/10.
