Bayern Munich got off to a commanding start to their run in the International Champions Cup in Singapore, handily beating Chelsea without allowing a goal until the result was in little doubt. Now they’re turning their attention to Inter Milan before returning home to Germany for the Audi Cup, and they’ll be looking to end their trip to Asia on as high a note as they can.

Inter Milan are trying to put themselves back on the upswing at long last, finding themselves in a very optimistic position after years of doldrums in Serie A. They’ll be eager to prove just how much they’ve improved with a good showing against Bayern Munich, hoping to upend the German giants and draw a lot of interested eyes back to Italian football.
Fun Inter Milan player to watch: João Mário
Mário is an immensely talented player, but last year playing for an unmotivated and lesser-talented Inter squad, you could hardly tell that a lot of the time. The Portuguese midfielder can do an awful lot for his team, but without those around him contributing, there’s only so much he can do on his own. This year’s Inter team looks a lot hungrier and more talented, though, so look to see Mário out to prove a point about just how good he and his team can be.
Fun Bayern Munich player to watch: Niklas Süle
Süle may be a center back, but he’s one very much in the mold of fellow Bayern defender David Alaba — all action, all the time, and at a very high level of quality. Newly arrived from Hoffenheim, Süle will be eager to make as big an impact as he can with his new club, and to prove that he really does fit with the elite of the elite in the Bundesliga, and that could turn out to make this a very entertaining match for the center back.
Compared to other friendlies, is this worth my time?
Bayern just kind of rolled over Chelsea for most of their ICC opener in Singapore, and there’s little reason to think that even an improved Inter Milan team will fare much better, meaning there’s probably going to be a lot of watching Bayern’s midfield just pass the ball around. 4/10.
