Barcelona vs. Real Madrid, El Clásico 2017: Time, TV schedule for Supercopa de España

On Sunday, Barcelona and Real Madrid will go head-to-head in the second edition of El Clásico in as many weeks, following on from Barça’s 3-2 friendly win in Miami late last month. This game should prove rather more competitive, as it forms the first half of the two-legged Supercopa de España — an annual tournament competed over by the reigning La Liga and Copa del Rey champions.

Attacker Neymar was crucial to Barça’s win in Miami a fortnight ago, laying on assists for two of his side’s three goals. However, he’s since left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain, and it’ll be fascinating to see how Ernesto Valverde’s side adapt to life without the Brazilian. It’s likely that Gerard Deulofeu — re-signed from Everton this summer — will replace him on the left.

Barça have no confirmed absentees, though could be without Thomas Vermaelen and Rafinha, who are both early doubts. Madrid have been given a clean bill of health, though star midfielder Luka Modrić will have to sit this one out due to the strange Spanish suspension rules — he was sent off against Atlético Madrid in this very competition three years ago, and the ban has been carried over.
