It has been a worrying summer in the transfer market for Barcelona, but Ernesto Valverde’s side settled their early nerves with a 2-0 victory at home to Real Betis in their La Liga opener. They’ll look to make it two wins from two on Saturday, when they travel to face Deportivo Alavés at the Estadio de Mendizorroza.

Barça travel to face Deportivo Alavés on Saturday.

Basque outfit Alavés made an impressive return to the top flight last season, finishing in a comfortable ninth place after a decade outside of La Liga. They also made a run to the final of the Copa del Rey, where they were eventually beaten 3-1 by Barça at the Vicente Calderón. Barça have won their last two meetings with Alavés, including a 6-0 victory on the road back in February. However, Alavés did manage to pull off an unlikely victory away at the Camp Nou last season, winning 2-1.
Alavés will certainly be without Victor Laguardia. Einar Galilea, Héctor Hernández, and Alexis are doubtful. Barça’s only confirmed absentee is Luis Suárez, though Andrés Iniesta could also miss out.
