It’s been a perfect start to the season for Real Madrid, winning the European and Spanish Supercups, and winning their La Liga season opener to boot. Now it’s time to keep that roll going, and that means hosting a Valenica side with big dreams this season.

Valencia started the season well with a win over Las Palmas, a side that vastly exceeded expectations in La Liga last year and turned into a very solid team. It wasn’t a huge win, but it was a solid performance and one they’ll hope is a sign of an improved season after last year was a vague disappointment for Los Che.

But they’ll still need to be much better than that if they’re going to defeat Real Madrid, who have been wildly impressive to start the season even while facing some hardships in the form of injuries and suspensions. They thrashed Barcelona in the Spanish Supercup, they easily handled Manchester United in the European Supercup, and they annihilated Deportivo La Coruna in their La Liga opener. They’re already in mid-season form, and if they keep that going it’s going to be trouble for the rest of Europe.

Real Madrid are dealing with a pair of painful suspensions, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos still on the sideline. They’ll also be without Raphael Varane thanks to injury, leaving their central defense a little thin right now. Valencia will be without a defender as well, with Ezequiel Garay sidelined with a back injury.
