Portugal have won five straight World Cup qualifiers, but a solitary defeat to Switzerland on the opening matchday means they still find themselves three points off the pacesetters as we head into the final four games. They’ll look to keep the pressure on with another win on Thursday, when they play host to the Faroe Islands at Boavista Estádio do Bessa XXI.

Portugal should have little problem beating the Faroe Islands in Thursday’s World Cup qualifier.

They cruised to a 6-0 win in the reverse fixture, with the Faroe Islanders’ only victory coming away at bottom side Latvia last October. Anything other than a similarly comfortable win will surely disappoint Portugal boss Fernando Santos. He’s without Inter Milan defender João Cancelo, and Benfica midfielder Pizzi, though should still be able to field a full-strength team — including captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
