Manchester City have a huge opportunity — if they can avoid an equally huge upset.

Manchester City are off to a very strong start in the Premier League, starting the season dead even on points with their local arch-rivals, Manchester United. With United facing a potentially tricky match this weekend, City will be hoping to keep the pressure on them and hopefully even pass them in the table with a decisive win over Watford FC.

Of course, Watford have been off to an impressive start of their own, currently sitting in fourth place in the EPL and undefeated through four matches, including a pair of impressive wins over Southampton and Bournemouth, as well as stymieing Liverpool in a jaw-dropping 3-3 draw in their season opener.

Watford’s new manager Marco Silva may not have a tremendous amount of high-level experience aside from a mediocre year in charge of Sporting CP, but he’s certainly seemed to figure out a way to get his team playing at a high level. The Hornets don’t have a poor squad by any means, having acquired a number of intriguing young talents and hungry veterans with plenty of gas in the tank over the last couple of years, but they’ve rarely looked like they’re having as much fun or playing quite as hard as they have over the first month of the EPL season.

So with Watford riding a high and playing in front of an ecstatic Vicarage Road crowd, this match seems like it’s an opportunity ripe for a massive upset of Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s squad will still be the decided favorites as they have the talent and track record to beat Watford no matter how much of a high the Hornets are riding on — but if they don’t treat their opponents serious, City and their fans could be in for a world of hurt.
