Kenny Tete dominated Neymar, but PSG got revenge

Or why defending stinks and no one should ever try it.

Playing against Paris Saint-Germain is a never-ending nightmare for defenders that only offers brief moments of respite. Try to put yourself in the shoes of Olympique Lyonnais defender Kenny Tete, who was tasked with repeatedly defending Neymar one-on-one on Sunday.

In the 19th minute, Tete made a highlight play that he will remember for the rest of his life and inevitably show his grandchildren.

But his glory was short lived, and it is unlikely that Kenny Tete III will be allowed to see what happened to grandpa later in the game, courtesy of Giovani Lo Celso.

It doesn’t matter what Tete did to Neymar earlier in the game. If you get juked this bad, you must retire. Don’t shoot the messenger, I don’t make the rules.

Lyon actually held onto a clean sheet for the first 78 minutes of this game, but went on to lose 2-0 thanks to a pair of own goals in the dying minutes. If there’s a lesson to take away from this, it’s that no one should ever try to play defense, especially against PSG. It doesn’t matter how amazing your best plays are. You will always get embarrassed in the end.
