The United States women’s national team is set to play New Zealand in another friendly on Tuesday night, and as they continue to work through a slow shift in the squad and prepare for two big upcoming years, they need another big win and strong performance to show that they’re still heading in the right direction as a team.

One of the biggest things to watch in this match is how goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher performs if she starts again, after allowing yet another soft goal in what’s been a cery shaky 2017 for the 29-year-old. She’s struggled since being tapped as the replacement for Hope Solo in the USWNT squad, and many fans are ready for Jill Ellis to move on and give someone else a significant run in goal, especially with Ashlyn Harris healthy again.

Otherwise, there’s really not a lot for the USWNT to learn from this match. They still need to play well and win, obviously, but they got out most of their meaningful moments from the first match against New Zealand last weekend. This one is about getting more time together on the pitch as a team, and trying to put as good a bow on this international break as possible. Another dominant performance, and the USWNT’s confidence could be just about all the way back.
