The United States men’s national team is used to winning its home games in World Cup qualifying, granting itself plenty of breathing room on the road. But after Friday’s loss to Costa Rica in New Jersey, the USMNT finds itself in need of a road result on Tuesday. The Americans are tied on points with Honduras and can’t afford to lose to Los Catrachos in San Pedro Sula.
USA vs. Honduras 2017: Start time, TV channel for 2018 Word Cup qualifier
The Americans can’t afford a loss on Tuesday.

Honduras is coming off a road victory over Trinidad and Tobago that took it level with the USMNT. But thanks to the Americans’ 6-0 home victory over Honduras in March, they have a big advantage on goal differential, so a draw on Tuesday would put them in control of their own destiny moving forward.
Jozy Altidore will be unavailable for the USMNT after picking up a suspension for accumulation of yellow cards. There might be other changes to the lineup as well, with Bruce Arena hinting that he would use more domestic players because they’re in mid-season form, while European-based players are just now getting back to full fitness.
