Announcer cries tears of joy on air when Syria scores to stay alive in World Cup qualifying

Nothing beats homer international soccer broadcasts.

Heading into stoppage time of its World Cup qualifier against Iran, Syria was down a goal and set to be eliminated from contention to make it to Russia 2018. Then Omar Al Somah struck with a stoppage time equalizer, moving Syria ahead of Uzbekistan in the standings and saving its qualifying hopes.

The Syrian broadcaster couldn’t contain his emotions and started crying on the air:

Broadcasters from other countries fighting for World Cup spots: Good luck matching this guy’s passion.

Syria will now face Australia in the home-and-away playoff for Asia’s intercontinental playoff spot. The winner of that series will face off against the fourth-placed team from CONCACAF, and based on the way things are going in that tournament, it could possibly be the United States.
