Manchester City suffered a rare setback last week with their first league loss of the season so far, but they’ll be looking to bounce back against a Newcastle United side that’s struggled in the Premier League for much of the season so far.
Manchester City vs. Newcastle 2018 live stream: Time, TV schedule, and how to watch online
Manchester City can eke ever closer to the Premier League title with another win.

The Toon sit all the way down in 15th place, and are just three points clear of the relegation zone coming into this weekend. Rafa Benitez was meant to guide them to Premier League stability with consistently solid coaching and results, but the only thing consistent for Newcastle this season has been just how incredibly inconsistent they’ve been under the decorated Spaniard.
To be fair, Newcastle have been constantly distracted by feuds between Benitez and controversial club owner Mike Ashley, and by Ashley’s attempts to sell the club as well. Another such effort seems to have fallen apart in the last week, leaving Newcastle’s immediate future in doubt and certainly leaving them without much-needed January transfer reinforcements.
In other words, Benitez will have to make do against Manchester City with what he has — and that won’t be easy. His fellow Spaniard Pep Guardiola has had his team firing on all cylinders from the first kick of the season, and even a close loss in a wild 4-3 game against Liverpool last weekend won’t dampen their momentum overmuch. City are still a force to be reckoned with, and seeing how they decide to handle Newcastle as they bounce back from that tough loss could be quite interesting to see, as we’ve rarely gotten to see Manchester have to prove a point at another team’s expense this season.
