Valencia v Barcelona - Copa del Rey Semi Final Second Leg

Barcelona are threatening to pull away with the La Liga title race, and only a run of good form from Atletico Madrid has kept them from truly ending the title race already. But Barcelona keep winning matches, and the odds are that they’re going to keep winning when they face Getafe on Sunday.

That’s not to say that Getafe are a bad side by any means. Their record over their last ten league matches is perfectly average — three wins, three losses, and four draws. They’re fairly safe from the relegation battle currently, sitting eleven points above the last relegation spot in the table. And in point of fact, Getafe have a small degree of hope of getting something meaningful out of this season, just six points away from the last Europa League qualifying spot. A couple hot runs of form can have Getafe right in the thick of that race at the end of the season, which would be thrilling for their fans.

But Barcelona are, well, Barcelona. Sure, they’re a little thin on defense right now, with Samuel Umtiti suspended, Thomas Vermaelen hurt, and Gerard Pique struggling with fitness, but they’re still Barcelona. If anything they’re more of a juggernaut than usual, with Philippe Coutinho joining the attack and Ousmane Dembele returning to health. They’re on a huge roll of form, not losing at all in La Liga this season, and only even dropping points four times all season long, though they did just suffer a draw at Espanyol’s hands a week ago.

But let’s be real. Barcelona are going to go on to win the title this season, and they’re probably going to step over Getafe to do it.
