We all knew that the Champions League quarter-final tie between Manchester City and Liverpool would be exciting and fast-paced, but few expected Liverpool to roar out to a three-goal aggregate lead after the first leg. Now the onus is on Manchester City to not only catch up to Liverpool but surpass them, and that’s going to make for a high-stakes match at the Etihad.

City are far from out of this tie, though, because they’ve been a free-scoring side this season, the one team in England that’s out-scored Liverpool. Pair that with Liverpool’s recently strong but sometimes achingly bad defense, and this tie can still potentially go either way.

Liverpool aren’t going to just let City into the tie again though, because they’re back to full health after a couple of recent injury scares, and they’re going to be ready to take the match to City from the outset. An early goal for Liverpool would give them an away goal tiebreaker, and might just be the proverbial nail in the coffin for Manchester City’s Champions League dreams.

This is going to be a fun match.
