Sevilla have gotten through the Champions League the hard way, clawing through a difficult group, then overcoming the odds against Manchester United with a thrilling win at Old Trafford. For all that effort, though, their reward is a quarter-final bout against Bayern Munich, and few are giving them a real chance against the German juggernaut.

That’s because despite a rough start to the season, Bayern are back in their classic all-conquering form. They’ve given up just three goals in their last seven matches, scoring 20 times along the way, including a massive 6-0 win against arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund this past weekend. Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller are in fantastic form of late, and with their defense finally healthy and in-form, they’re going to be an incredibly difficult side for Sevilla to get by, even playing at their best.

But that doesn’t mean that Sevilla are going to give up. Many experts and observers wrote them off against Manchester as well, but they completely outplayed the Red Devils throughout the tie and scored two massive goals at Old Trafford to shock the world and advance. Beating a much more focused Bayern side is a very different battle, but Sevilla haven’t earned their reputation for being tough cup competition opponents by rolling over in the face of adversity. They’re going to scratch and claw and fight until the final whistle of the tie, and with that kind of attitude absolutely anything can happen.
