Final score: Senegal 2-2 Japan

One of the most entertaining games of the tournament, and in the end, a solid result for both sides. If you told either of these teams they would have four points after two group stage games, they both would have taken it.

Shoutout to 19-year-old Senegal right back Moussa Wagué, who plays for Eupen in Belgium, and will now have a lot more big clubs scouting him.

GOAL Keisuke Honda! Senegal 2-2 Japan

Yo, this game is WILD. Zero defense and I love it. Senegal goalkeeper Khadim N’Diaye was probably fouled on this pinball sequence, but he doesn’t exactly do his bit to prevent a goal either. At the end, Honda is in the right place at the right time.

GOAL Mousa Wague! Senegal 2-1 Japan

How about this for a late run and classy finish from the right back? Would be great for a striker. It’s the first international goal for the 19-year-old. Fantastic team goal too, this whole sequence is fantastic.

64’ — Japan hits the crossbar!

So close for Inui!

Halftime score: Senegal 1-1 Japan

Senegal has been on top for most of this game, but Japan took its one big chance wonderfully. A draw wouldn’t be a bad result for either team — both won their first match, so taking four points into the last game would put them each in good shape.

GOAL Takashi Inui! Senegal 1-1 Japan

Japan’s most dangerous player in the first half has been Inui, and he got his reward in the 34th minute. Check out this gorgeous finish after an exchange with Yuto Nagatomo.

GOAL Sadio Mane! Senegal 1-0 Japan

The Liverpool star didn’t know anything about this, but it’s Sadio Mane’s goal nonetheless. Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima will want this one back.

Japan vs. Senegal lineups

Japan is unchanged from their opening game, while Senegal make one change, bringing in Pape Alioune Ndiaye for Mame Diouf.

Before the World Cup started, Group H was picked out as one that could have been anyone’s to win. Still, most expected Colombia and Poland to win their opening games. Instead, Senegal and Japan were victorious, and they face off against each other on Sunday for the group lead. The game kicks off at 11 a.m. ET on FOX and Telemundo. You can watch the game online on Fox Sports Go in English and Telemundo Deportes en vivo in Spanish.

Japan had the benefit of a penalty and red card for Colombia in the third minute of their game, but were still made to battle for the entire match, eventually finding a winner deep into the second half. Senegal, meanwhile, were on top of Poland from start to finish in their match.

Sadio Mane looks like he’s at his best for Senegal at the moment, while Japan will need Shinji Kagawa to step it up a bit and find top form.
