Javier Hernandez and Mexico teammates bleach their hair ahead of Brazil match

Why did Mexico players dye their hair blond? Because SOCCER. (We have no idea.)

Javier Hernandez and several teammates, including Miguel Layun and Carlos Salcedo, have dyed their hair blond ahead of Mexico vs. Brazil in the World Cup Round of 16, and if you are wondering why, welp, so are we.

But bleach it they DID.

Is it a stab at some team bonding exercise, even though only two of them did it? Possibly. Is it just a fashion statement from two men who want to channel the rage and technical prowess of early Eminem? Most likely not, though I will choose to think of it that way.

What is interesting is that Neymar has removed the blond in his hair for the match. Parry and thrust!

Perhaps Hernandez and Layun were inspired by the 1998 Romania team, who all dyed their hair blond and took one of the silliest team photos of all time after doing so.

If that was indeed the inspiration, it would be an interesting choice, as Romania lost to Croatia in the Round of 16. But, you know, that team had Gheorghe Hagi. They were pretty awesome!

The one thing that is for certain is that Mexico fans are totally on board and, with a win, are planning on joining Hernandez and Layun with the look.
