Soccer in the United States is going on hiatus.
MLS, U.S. Soccer cancel games for the next month due to coronavirus pandemic
MLS and the United States’ national teams will be sidelined until well into April, and potentially beyond, because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Major League Soccer has suspended operations for at least the next 30 days, while U.S. Soccer has cancelled matches scheduled to take place in March and April, due to the coronavirus outbreak. The CONCACAF Champions League, which MLS clubs participate in, and USL, which features independent clubs and MLS B-teams, have also been suspended indefinitely.
Questions about the possibility of the season being postponed first came up Tuesday when Washington governor Jay Inslee banned large gatherings in the state, leading to the match between the Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas being called off. With the spread of coronavirus leading to the suspension of the NBA season, the league acted quickly to protect its players and staff.
U.S. Soccer has cancelled its friendly matches that were scheduled to take place over the next month, as well. The USMNT was set to play away to Wales and the Netherlands in March, while the USWNT was scheduled to host Brazil and Australia in April.
No decision has been made about the NWSL schedule or the upcoming CONCACAF men’s Olympic qualifiers. NWSL is scheduled to start April 18. The men’s Olympic qualifying tournament is scheduled to start March 20.
