Here’s what to look forward to in Charlotte.
What teams are coming to Charlotte?
Charlotte will showcase two group stage matches, and two games in the round-of-16 inside Bank of America Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.
Those games are (all times Eastern):
- Sunday, June 22: Real Madrid vs. CF Pachuca in Group H, 3 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 24: SL Benfica vs. Bayern Munich, 3 p.m.
- Saturday, June 28: Group D runner-up vs. Group C winner, 4 p.m.
- Monday, June 30: Group F runner-up vs. Group E winner, 3 p.m.
Who do I contact to inquire about tickets, guest services and parking?
While starting with FIFA.com, the official ticket provider for the Club World Cup is your starting point to get in the game, Bank of America Stadium has a comprehensive list of who to connect with for all of the above, including parking information and how to secure a spot even before you arrive.
I don’t have a ticket but I want to check out the game. Any suggestions?
While many establishments have live broadcasts of soccer. These are the ones we’ve been told should be full of fans for the game.
Courtyard Hooligans: This place is known to pack the house for a good game and if you’re looking for a place to go without being in the stadium, we’re told this is one of the best sports pubs around. | 140 Brevard Court, website.
Elizabeth Parlour Room: This is the spot if you want to watch a good match or a Formula 1 race, so we’re told. Also, in terms of food and drink specials this is one of the best spots around. It’s the watering hold for Charlotte FC fans on gameday, but expect it to be just as lively on Club World Cup days. | 1523 Elizabeth Avenue, Suite 120, website.
Valhalla Pub and Eatery: Downtown Charlotte and gets you right in the frenzy of an eclectic city and fans looking to watch the game. We’re told its a great option if you’re not looking for anything pricy, and is a great place to watch games of all kinds, specifically soccer. | 317 S. Church St., Brevard Court, website.
I’m in Charlotte for a few days. What should I do?
Into sports beyond the beautiful game? Check out the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is less than a mile from the Bank of America Stadium. There’s also Truist Field, if you’re into baseball, which is widely regarded as one of the best minor league stadiums in the country.
Looking for something a bit different? There’s the Levine Center for the Arts, which houses a number of separate museum and cultural centers, there’s what’s known as the Epicenter, less than a mile from the stadium but chock full of restaurants, bars, shops and nightlife.
Looking for a place to just chill out? Try the Green, less than a half mile walk from the stadium and a great place to soak in some fresh air and check out some cool built-in art installations.
