Crimson Tide at Tigers OddsShark Matchup Report

Alabama Crimson Tide

The Crimson Tide are still a good defensive team with a unit that ranks 10th in the nation in scoring defense with 15.9 points per game against and 16th in total yards with 308 per game against. But whereas Nick Saban’s previous teams were defined by their elite defenses, this one has been virtually unstoppable on offense.

Led by a backfield comprised of four NFL-caliber running backs and the Heisman frontrunner Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, this team has racked up an astounding 564 total yards and 54.1 points per game. Tagovailoa has thrown 25 touchdown passes, no interceptions, and hasn’t set foot on the field in the fourth quarter this season.

Alabama is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games on the road against teams with winning records per the OddsShark College Football Database.

LSU Tigers

LSU avoided the letdown and put together another brilliant performance on defense in following up its 36-16 upset over Georgia with a 19-3 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

With that win, the Tigers improved to 8-0 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games at home, winning those games by an average margin of 20.5 points per game. LSU is 10-1 ATS in its last 11 games against SEC opponents.

Saturday’s total is set at 53.5 points. The UNDER is 6-2 in the last eight games between these two teams.

Since 2011, the Crimson Tide have lost exactly one regular season game six times in seven seasons. If they are going to lose one in 2018, this figures to be it. Alabama hasn’t looked even remotely stoppable at any point this season, and if LSU’s defense can’t figure out a way to slow the Crimson Tide down at home, it’s likely that no one will this year.
