LSU Tigers
The Tigers entered the 2018 season ranked No. 25 and going off as an underdog against then No. 8 Miami in their season opener. Since then, LSU has climbed all the way up to No. 5 in the AP Top 25 thanks to an impressive 5-0 start that also includes an outright win over then No. 7 Auburn on the road as 10-point underdogs.
LSU has two more top-10 teams on the horizon with No. 2 Georgia and No. 1 Alabama both coming up on the next homestand, but it can’t afford to look ahead with a tough test against Florida this weekend.
In their last eight games against SEC opponents, the Tigers are 7-1 SU and a perfect 8-0 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database. The last time LSU failed to cover the spread against an SEC opponent was last season in a 17-16 road win over Florida as a 1.5-point favorite.
Florida Gators
The Gators failed to reach five wins for just the second time since 1979 last season when they went 4-7 SU and 3-8 ATS, ending the year on a 1-5 SU and ATS skid.
Florida has looked much better on both sides of the ball this season en route to a 4-1 SU and ATS start that includes a 13-6 road win over Mississippi State last Saturday as a 6.5-point underdog. In 11 instances as a home underdog since 2003, the Gators are 3-8 SU and 4-7 ATS.
Saturday’s total is set at 43.5 points. The UNDER is 7-3 in LSU’s last 10 road games at Florida.
Each of the last four games between these two teams have been decided by seven points or less. This Saturday’s contest should be another evenly matched one between two very physical and defensive-minded teams.
