Chicago Bears
With a 34-22 win as 7-point favorites over the Detroit Lions last Sunday, Chicago improved to 3-0 SU and ATS over its last three games and to 6-3 SU and ATS on the season. While there is no question that Khalil Mack has made a huge impact on the Bears and their defense this season, the biggest reason for the team’s success in 2018 could be the huge step forward that Mitchell Trubisky has taken at quarterback.
One year removed from a pedestrian rookie year that had some labeling Trubisky as a bust, the 24-year-old has passed for 2,304 yards and 19 touchdowns with only seven interceptions through nine games this season.
The Bears have historically fared very well at home against the Vikings with a 14-3 SU record in their last 17 home games against Minnesota and an 8-2 ATS record in their last 10 per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Minnesota Vikings
Since starting the season off with a disappointing 1-2-1 SU and ATS run, the Vikings have looked a lot more like the contender they were projected to be in the preseason over their last five games with a 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS record over that stretch.
Like Chicago, Minnesota has a top five defense in total yards allowed while also getting strong quarterback play on offense from offseason acquisition Kirk Cousins. Minnesota is 2-6 SU and ATS in its last eight games coming out of a bye week.
Sunday night’s total is set at 44.5 points. The UNDER is 7-2 in the last nine games between these two division rivals.
The Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints have been running away with the top two spots in the NFC and the headlines as well. But both the Vikings and the Bears could be dark horse Super Bowl contenders this postseason, and the one that comes out on top in the NFC North will be in even better position to do some damage.
