Any chance that the Crimson Tide would come out flat in the Iron Bowl looking ahead to the SEC Championship Game probably went out the window after last Saturday. Alabama snoozed its way to a 10-10 first half against The Citadel last week before eventually blowing their vastly inferior opponent away with a 27-0 third quarter and a final score of 50-17.
Nick Saban reportedly gave his team an earful at halftime and will likely use that slow start as motivation this week.
The ugly first half last Saturday was a rare misstep for Alabama this season. The Crimson Tide enter this weekend’s action with a record of 11-0 SU and 7-4 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database, winning their games by an average margin of 35.6 points per game.
Auburn Tigers
Auburn has been playing some solid football down the stretch with a 3-1 SU and ATS record over its last four games, but the one loss was a 27-10 defeat in Georgia as 13-point underdogs.
The Tigers looked poised to do some damage after going 10-2 SU and 5-4-3 ATS over its first 12 games in 2017, but since then Auburn is a pedestrian 7-6 SU and 5-8 ATS over its last 13 games. The team is 2-6 SU in its last eight road games against teams with winning records.

When it comes to rivalry week, no results are guaranteed. There have been some crazy Iron Bowl finishes over the years, but given the current form of these two teams and the fact that this one is being played in Alabama, it’s hard to see the Crimson Tide not heading into their SEC Championship Game with Georgia undefeated.
