Clemson Tigers
The Tigers had a couple of close calls in the month of September in beating Texas A&M by two points and Syracuse by four points, going only 1-4 ATS through their first five games.
Since then, Clemson has won its last seven games by an average margin of just over 39 points per game, racking up 51.1 points per game while allowing only 12 points per game. This looks like a team set on a collision course with the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, but first the two teams have to take care of business this week.
Over their last 12 games against ACC opponents, the Tigers are 12-0 SU and 8-3-1 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Pittsburgh Panthers
Pittsburgh opened its season with an underwhelming 2-3 SU and ATS start before turning things around with a 44-37 win at home over the Syracuse Orange. That win kicked off a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS run in which the Panthers went a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS against ACC foes.
A 24-3 road loss to Miami last week killed Pittsburgh’s momentum heading into this championship game, but perhaps the Panthers were just looking ahead as they already had the ACC Coastal Division locked up.
Saturday’s total is set at 53 points. The UNDER is 3-1 in Pittsburgh’s last four games.
Clemson is 8-0 SU and 7-1 ATS in its last eight games played in the month of December. The Tigers have rounded into playoff form on both sides of the ball over the last couple of months and aren’t likely to be slowed down much by the Panthers this Saturday.
