Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers lost to the Denver Broncos 24-17 as 3-point road favorites last Sunday, bringing to an end a 6-0 SU and 5-0-1 ATS hot streak over the team’s previous six games.
James Conner’s production has dipped heavily over the last three weeks with the young running back averaging only 11.7 carries and 72.3 total yards per game after he averaged 18.9 carries and 135.6 total yards through the first eight games of the season. With Le’Veon Bell officially out for the rest of the year, Pittsburgh will need Conner to carry the load the rest of the way.
Over their last 20 games played in the month of December the Steelers are 18-2 SU and 13-6-1 ATS per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles bounced back nicely from a 23-22 loss to Denver two weeks ago with a 45-10 blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Since losing to the Los Angeles Rams back on September 23, the Chargers are 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS over their last eight games.
The Chargers are only one game behind Kansas City in the AFC West standings and would love to keep it that way until they see the Chiefs again in December.
Sunday night’s total is set at 51.5 points. The OVER is 4-1 in the Chargers’ last five road games against Pittsburgh.
Kansas City has emerged as the team to beat this year in the AFC, but unlike in past years when the top seeds seemed untouchable, this year’s AFC race is wide open. New England, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and even Houston have all shown signs of Super Bowl potential. This game will be a good litmus test for the Chargers, who could prove they are a legitimate threat to beat the Chiefs on the road with a big road win in this spot.
