For anyone holding on to the belief that maybe the Crimson Tide’s dominance was just a product of their soft schedule, that theory was put to rest last Saturday when Alabama crushed No. 3 LSU 29-0 on the road.
Tua Tagovailoa continued his march towards the Heisman trophy with two touchdown passes and a touchdown run, overcoming his first interception of the season with an excellent performance all around. As if the Crimson Tide weren’t scary enough just based on their offense, the defense suddenly seems to be rounding into championship form, too.
The Crimson Tide have dominated Mississippi State over the last decade. Alabama is 10-0 SU and 6-4 ATS in its last 10 games against the Bulldogs with an average margin of victory of 21.9 points per game per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Mississippi State has bounced back nicely from a 19-3 loss on the road to LSU with double-digit wins over Texas A&M and Louisiana Tech. Those two wins did come at home, however; the Bulldogs are just 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six games on the road against SEC opponents. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald will need to have a near-perfect game to give the Bulldogs a shot in this one.

The Bulldogs rank sixth in the nation in total defense allowing 279 total yards per game and second in scoring defense allowing only 12.3 points per game. An elite defense and a dangerous mobile quarterback should in theory give Alabama fans and backers some cause for concern, but with the way the Crimson Tide are steamrolling everyone, it’s hard to imagine a close game.
