Pittsburgh Steelers
From the beginning of October through the middle of November, Pittsburgh looked like a team that would be in the running for a first round bye on the heels of a 6-0 SU and 5-0-1 ATS run.
But over the last three weeks, the Steelers have gone 0-3 SU and ATS, most embarrassingly losing to the Oakland Raiders last week as 10-point road favorites. At 7-5-1 SU and 6-6-1 ATS, Pittsburgh is no longer a sure thing to win the AFC North or to even make the postseason.
The Steelers have been tormented by New England over the last 20 years with a 3-12 SU and 3-11-1 ATS record in their last 15 games against the Patriots per the OddsShark NFL Database.
New England Patriots
What a difference a single play can make. If the Patriots don’t allow Miami to score a miracle touchdown on the final play of the game last Sunday, they improve to 9-1 SU over their last 10 games and to 10-3 SU on the season.
Instead, New England is now tied with Houston at 9-4 SU on the season for the second seed in the AFC and just 2-2 SU and ATS over its last two games. The Patriots enter this game with a 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS record in their last 10 road games against teams with winning records.
Sunday’s total is set at 52 points at betting sites. The UNDER is 5-1 in New England’s last six games.
With New England coming off of a humiliating loss to the Dolphins and Pittsburgh suddenly in must-win mode coming off of three straight losses, Sunday’s game should feature two very angry and fired up teams. These two teams were crystal clear Super Bowl contenders a month ago, but the loser of this one might have that status called into question on Monday morning.
