Alabama Crimson Tide
The final score of 45-34 doesn’t do justice to Alabama’s dominance over the Oklahoma Sooners in the semifinals.
Kyler Murray eventually got things going in the second half to make the scoreline more respectable, but this game was over moments into the second quarter when the Crimson Tide took a 28-0 lead. Tua Tagovailoa had no issues with his injured ankle as he went 24-for-27 passing for 318 yards and four touchdown passes.
The Crimson Tide are 7-2 SU and 4-3-2 ATS in their last nine instances as a betting favorite of a touchdown or less per the OddsShark College Football Database.
Clemson Tigers
Clemson completely dominated Notre Dame on both sides of the ball in a 30-3 win in the Cotton Bowl. In doing so, the Tigers improved to 7-2 on the point spread over their last nine games, a stretch in which Clemson has won every game by at least 20 points and has an average margin of victory of 37 points per game.
It is a testament to how good Alabama has been for so long that an undefeated team of this caliber playing at this level is an underdog in the championship game.
Monday night’s total is set at 58 points. The UNDER is 4-1 over Clemson’s last five games.
What these two teams have done over the last four seasons is remarkable. With virtually no room for error to even advance to the College Football Playoff, both have made it into the playoff four straight times and have advanced into the final together three times.
Clemson’s legacy is on the line in this one as a win would put Dabo Swinney’s program into the same tier as Alabama while a loss would only widen the gap between Nick Saban’s group and the rest of the nation.
