Where: Citi Field, Queens, New York
Betting Line / Total: New York -107 / 8.5 Runs
The Cubs just can’t seem to put everything together for an extended period of time. Chicago lost four straight games form August 13th through the 16th, followed that up with five straight wins from the 17th through the 22nd, and then followed that up with three straight losses to the Washington Nationals this weekend.
All told, Chicago has had an up-and-down season and has a 69-61 record to show for it. The team currently holds the second NL wild card spot behind the Washington Nationals.
A big part of Chicago’s problem has been a 25-39 record on the road this season. The Cubs will try to end their road woes against a Mets team they are 5-1 against in their last six road games per the OddsShark MLB Database.
In identical fashion to the Cubs, the Mets entered their weekend series at home against the Atlanta Braves on the heels of a five-game winning streak, only to get swept in three games over the weekend. New York just can’t seem to figure the Braves out; since July 25, the Mets are 1-5 against Atlanta and 20-3 against the rest of the league. The Mets are a perfect 4-0 in Marcus Stroman’s first four starts with the team.
Cubs at Mets Betting Total
Tuesday night’s total is set at 8.5 runs. The OVER is 11-5 in the last 16 games between the Mets and Cubs.
New York enters this important series sitting two games behind the Cubs in the wild card standings. The series continues on Wednesday night with an excellent pitching matchup between Noah Syndergaard and Kyle Hendricks before closing out on Thursday night with Jacob deGrom taking on Jon Lester.
