Sweden’s Robin Soderling Red Hot Heading Into Season’s Last Tournament

There are grand slams and trophies and even No. 1 rankings, but it all comes down to this fall weekend in London.

On Sunday, Barclays ATP World Tour Finals will host the top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams in the world.

One of those eight is Sweden’s Robin Soderling, who ranks No. 4 after his weekend victory over France’s Gael Monfils. The Swede, right now, could be hotter than Roger Federer’s wife. Could be.

In his last seven tour-level events, Soderling reached the quarterfinals or better. He now carries an impressive 103-38 career indoor record. In last year’s tournament, Soderling defeated Spain’s Rafael Nadal and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic on his way to the semifinals.

His No. 4 position is a first for Soderling, and his 5,380 points have him sitting 300 points behind Djokovic. However, the No. 2 and No. 1 positions seem to be safely secured by Federer (7,645) and Nadal (11,45) respectively.

Soderling is set to face Britain’s Andy Murray. Murray will likely come out with revenge, since Soderling’s weekend victory knocked Murray one spot down from the No. 4 spot his upcoming opponent now holds.

Here are the eight singles contenders for the final match of the year, per the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals:
